Understanding Episcopal Worship
Our church is part of The Episcopal Church, and the worldwide Anglican Communion. We value the poetry and deep connection we feel to our prayer tradition which comes from The Book of Common Prayer, and from other prayers from around the Anglican Communion. We recognize and value holy moments and rituals which celebrate God’s relationship with us, and the mystery of that. We call these rituals “sacraments” because they are sacred to us, or as we say “outward and visible signs of an inward and spiritual grace,” and they include baptism, the eucharist (holy communion), marriage (inclusive of all genders), anointing of the sick, and others.
All are welcome at St. Mary’s. We are open, affirming and inclusive. Diversity is a value that we strive toward!
