Baptism

In our tradition we recognize baptism as full initiation into the life of the church. Baptism is available for infants, children, or adults of any age. There are certain days of the year which are particularly appropriate for baptism: The Baptism of our Lord (early January), the Easter Vigil service (Saturday night before Easter), Pentecost, and All Saints’ Day (Sunday after Nov 1). We can also do baptism at other times, but we never do baptisms during the seasons of Lent or Advent.

Preparation for infant baptism is an hour session with the infant, parents, God parents, and clergy the day before the baptism.

Baptism preparation for children happens in our Godly Play program, and in a session with the child, parents and clergy.

Preparation for adults happens in a class, usually in the season of Lent.
