Worship Ministries
Tech Support Team
Volunteers support the live-streaming of our worship services, operating cameras and the sound board and cueing portions of the live feed. Training is provided! If you are interested in becoming involved in this or any of our worship ministries contact us!
Altar Guild
Members of the Altar Guild work in teams one weekend per month. It is approximately a four hour commitment including the coverage of one church service. Members of the Altar Guild cover the needs of all three services by preparing the altar for communion. Members take care of our altar, communion vessels, vestments, and altar flowers. On holidays the Altar Guild provides special decorations for the services. Training is provided to all volunteers. If you’d like more information about the Altar Guild, please contact us.
Lectors & Intercessors
Lectors read the appointed Sunday scriptures. Intercessors lead the prayers for the congregation during the “prayers of the people”. Training is available. If you’d like more information about participating in worship by being a lector, please contact us.
Choir
We are blessed to have a wonderful choirmaster, pipe organ and an enthusiastic choir. We sing from September to June every Sunday morning at the 10:00am service. Our Lessons and Carols Christmas concert is a highlight of the year. We’re always looking for people who want to make a joyful sound to the Lord! No singing experience is required. If you’d like to learn more about music ministries at St. Mary’s, please contact us.
Bulletins
Volunteers produce, print and assemble the service bulletins for all three services. If you are interested in becoming involved in this or any of our worship ministries contact us!
Ushers & Greeters
St. Mary’s is a friendly, accepting, and welcoming community. One way our parishioners live out our belief in inclusiveness is through our Greeter program. Everyone who comes through our doors is greeted with kind words and a smile. Our Greeters are trained to provide visitors and newcomers assistance in finding their way around and helping them to feel comfortable and welcome.
Ushers welcome and assist in the safety and security of our worship services. They assist with handing out bulletins, assisted hearing devices, seating for disabled attendees, and health and safety rules and protocols. During the service they are responsible for the offertory and seeing that the elements for Eucharist are brought forward. After service they are responsible for closing the church. Ushers are mindful of attendee safety and security before and after services. If you are interested in becoming involved in this or any of our worship ministries contact us!
Acolytes, Vergers, and Eucharistic Ministers
These lay leaders assist the clergy before and during the service.
Acolyte
Open to youth age 10 + years. Acolytes play an important role in the pageantry of our Episcopal service, bearing banners, lighting candles and assisting the clergy. Participants generally serve one Sunday per month. Training is required.
Verger
Vergers support the clergy by coordinating the Lay Eucharistic Ministers, readers, and prayer ministers scheduled to serve. The Verger is responsible for opening the church and setting up for services. The verger unlocks the church facilities and turns on heat as needed. During special services, the verger may marshal processions, when visiting clergy are serving. Vergers also support the clergy with additional duties as assigned.
Eucharistic Ministers
Lay Eucharistic Ministers are trained and licensed to assist the clergy with Holy Communion. Lay Eucharistic Visitors take the Sacraments to our members who are unable to attend services.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can assist with the liturgy, please contact us.
