Afghan Refugee Support

St. Mary’s, along with friends at the American Muslim Society of Napa, the Napa Methodist Church, and support of community members, worked together to start a Sponsor Circle to support the resettlement of a family of refugees from Afghanistan in our community.

What is a Sponsor Circle?

Sponsor Circles are a program created by the US government to assist with the resettlement of the large numbers of Afghan refugees coming to the US after the fall of Kabul in 2021. A sponsor circle is a group of community members anywhere in the US who assist the refugee resettlement agencies to help raise money and provide logistical support to a family. How can you help?

We were able to assist in supporting the resettlement of a family of two Afghan brothers this summer. We look forward to assisting more refugees in the near future. Our primary need is connections for reduced-cost housing and other resources. Please contact us to let us know about any connections or resources you’d be willing to share or if you are interested in participating in this effort.
